    Cooperation | 2024-09-25

This year marks the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and France, as well as the China-France Year of Culture and Tourism. On September 24, the Mayor of Rouen, Nicolas Mayer-Rossignol, visited our university accompanied by a delegation. Vice President Zheng Chunmiao, who oversees EIT’s international affairs, met with the visitors.

He warmly welcomed Mayor Mayer-Rossignol and his delegation. He provided an overview of our university's educational mechanisms and development progress, highlighting our academic structure, talent cultivation, and faculty team. In recent years, EIT has actively pursued international exchanges and cooperation, engaging in talent development and academic exchange programs with renowned international universities to support its growth with a global perspective. He expressed his hope that both sides will continue to enhance cooperation in talent cultivation and academic exchanges, foster industry-academia collaboration in commerce and port economy, and drive academic innovation and development.

Mayor Mayer-Rossignol expressed his gratitude for the warm reception from EIT. He noted that Ningbo and Rouen are significant port cities and historical and cultural cities with a strong and enduring friendship that has become one of the key bridges for economic and cultural exchanges between China and France. Meanwhile, he hoped that this visit would serve as an opportunity to further deepen educational communication and dialogue, take China-France relations to new heights, and jointly cultivate innovative and entrepreneurial talents for the future.

Rouen, located in the northwest of France, is the capital of the Normandy region, a renowned port and historical cultural city. As Europe's largest grain export port, the Port of Rouen spans four port areas along a 20-kilometer stretch of the Seine River. Rouen is one of Ningbo's most closely related and active international friendly cities. Since establishing sister-city relations in March 1990, the two cities have achieved numerous collaborative outcomes across various fields.

Accompanying the visit were Syleimane Sow, Deputy Mayor of Rouen in charge of international cooperation, Laurent Yon, President of Université de Rouen Normandie, Vincent Lemarchand, Chairman of the Rouen-Ningbo Friendship Committee and Honorary Citizen of Ningbo, and Ye Kejun, Director of the International Cooperation Division (European and African affairs) of the Foreign Affairs Office of Ningbo Municipal People’s Government. Wang Ping, Deputy Dean of the Graduate School, and other officials from our university's external cooperation department were also present at the meeting.
