Background Information:
Dr. Peng Yu received his PhD in synthetic organic chemistry from ETH Zurich in 2019 in the lab of Prof. Bill Morandi for his work on methodology development utilizing the shuttle catalysis strategy. After completing his PhD, Peng pursued postdoctoral training in the labs of Prof. Brad Carrow at Princeton University and Prof. Song Lin at Cornell University, where he further explored his research interests in methodology development with an emphasis on transition-metal catalysis and electrochemistry. In May 2023, Peng joined Eastern Institute of Technology, Ningbo as an assistant professor, where he began his independent career.
Research Field:
The primary focus of research in the lab of Peng Yu centers on the development of novel, practical and sustainable organic methodologies and exploring their synthetic potential in the synthesis of valuable molecules such as drugs and materials. The lab is particularly interested in the area of electrochemistry, radical chemistry, and asymmetric catalysis. By delving into these fields, Peng’s team aim to develop innovative strategies that can address current challenges in organic synthesis and enable efficient and selective synthesis of complex organic compounds with significant synthetic and functional potential.
